So what actually is a tithe and is it only for the Jews? Does Deuteronomy 10:14, Psalm 24:1, Psalm 89:11 and Lev 27:30 say anything about tithing? Who does everything belong to? How much should a New Testament Christian give to God? If God owns it all does He have a claim to it all? Are we actually giving Him our money, or His? Does God warn us about a false belief of what we think is ours. Have we ever actually considered that money is actually a false god for most people who worship the almighty dollar! Does Deut. 8:12-18 say anything about us thinking our own power has gotten us our wealth? Where does it really come from? You can learn the simple truth from the Bible at the link to the main Bible Study down below.
Does Gen 14: 19-20 and Gen 28: 20-22 provide some of the answers? Isn't it interesting that these titans of the Old Testament understood who provided for them, and the importance of giving Him what is His? Did Jesus teach tithing in Matthew 23:23? Did He say in Matthew 5:17 that He came to abolish the law? He could have easily told His followers the tithe no longer mattered but He didn't. Did Jesus actually teach in Luke 17:10 that Christians should give MORE than 10%, that the tithe was just the base to start from? Are Christians only supposed to give what they feel is right? Does The Bible Teach About giving in Proverbs 11:24-25? Find out the answers at the main study below.
Why do most churches teach we only should give what we feel is right, that tithing was part of the law that was hung on the cross and done away with, but how is that possible when it existed before Moses? Is this REALLY the Bible teaching? Is there a Biblical basis for Christians giving 10%? Was the Tithe really only for the Jews?
Does the Scriptures say anything about not tithing? Does Malachi 3:8-10 say we are robbing God if we don't give Him His tithe? Is that why God doesn't bless Christians who say they can't afford to tithe....because they don't give Him what is His? Proverbs 3: 9-10 says to "Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine." Blessings are promised for giving our Creator His 10%. Why don't we believe God? Do we really want to keep something that belongs to God?
Romans 15:4 and 1 Coronthians 10:11 tell us the Old Testament was written for us to learn from. The Old Testament is teaching us to tithe. Is Tithing a test command for Christians? Should we cheerfully give our tithe so we can be blessed? It seems foolish not to!
