The VISION

John Childers - Pastor

John's passion is to honor God by developing a church full of missionaries. The greatness of a church is seen not in its seating capacity, but in its sending capacity! John and his wife Jeannie have two daughters, Amy and Jennifer. They moved to St. Louis in 2005 because he and his family sensed God was calling them to be a part of a unique spiritual community called South County Baptist Church. He is a graduate of The University of Georgia (Journalism), Southwestern Baptist Theological (M. Div) and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (D. MIn).

Scott Nolte - Interim Minister of Worship
Scott Nolte has many years of experience in Music Ministry, having served as Interim Minister of Music in other Churches. SCBC is blessed to have such a gifted man during this time of transition.

Joel Houchins - Interim Minister of Students

Joel graduated from Southwest Baptist University in December, 2006 with a Bachelors Degree in Religious Education and joined the SCBC staff in February. He is leading the Student Ministry while the congregation searches for a full-time Minister. He plans to attend seminary in the fall. Joel brings tremendous enthusiasm and energy to this ministry.

Chris Culley - Minister of Missions

Chris joined the South County family in October, 2006. With mission experience in East Asia, Ukraine and throughout North America, Chris brings a zeal for missions to the congregation. He and his wife Sara are both missionaries at heart and serve together in the ESL classes. Chris is coordinating the SCBC Missions strategy with a focus on involving the church family in hands-on missions locally and worldwide.

Ken Hill - Minister of Education and Administration

Ken joined the staff in May 2001. He was raised in Talladega, Alabama. Ken married Sandy in 1973 and has two daughters, Christy and Katie. He has a BA from Auburn University and MBA from SIU Edwardsville.

Cindy DeNoyer - Lead Ministry Assistant
Cindy joined the staff in February of 2007 as the Lead Ministry Assistant and Financial Secretary. She comes to the congregation with extensive experience in finances and serves Christ by using her gifts and expertise in service to the congregation.

April Brooks - Ministry Assistant
April joined the South County staff in July 2007 and brings a helpful and enthusiastic to the office. She handles most of the reminders, mailings, and the master calendar for SCBC. April will be your first point of contact if you need to schedule an event such as a wedding, or activity at South County.
